It’s February already! Although there were no shows in January (team penning cancelled due to rain), there has been a lot of activity at the arena. To all members, please make sure when you visit the arena on non-show days, you close all gates and replace any locks that were removed before you leave. There have been several occasions where members have arrived to an empty arena and found gates open. We would like to say thank you to Cronier plumbing for the work they did to the bathrooms. In all this cold weather, the pipes in the ladies bathroom burst. Cronier plumbing fixed the pipes and the leaking toilet and installed a sink in the men’s bathroom, donating all the materials for the job! We are getting ready to kick off the 2010 show season this month! We hope to see you there, Team Penning beginning the 3rd Sat. of the month and Timed Events beginning the 4th Saturday of the month. Summary of the minutes: -Minutes and Treasury reports for January were read and accepted into record. Old Business -Bucking chutes are at the arena and being installed. -Will get the dirt from Keith Harrison for the back-pens -Work days discussed. -Sponsors – a list of existing banners has been compiled. -We need members’ help getting season sponsors. -The combination has been changed on the locks at the arena for the 2010 season. -Leaving the arena unlocked was discussed. -Website and advertisements – The club website has been updated: www.JCHAclub.com -The advertisement in the MS Market Bulletin should be updated for the Feb 15th issue. -The advertisement on MS Equine club listing website will be updated soon. -JCHA sign – Amanda sold the vinyl machine with the Double FF. We will have to get with the new owner to update the sign and to get new sponsor banners. -Time Clocks have been returned. New Business •Work days – discussion was opened about having scheduled work days. It was suggested that if a member doesn’t show up to help for a work day, they can be fined like hunting clubs do. This discussion was tabled for now. Will revisit the idea if we can’t get enough help on work days. •A scheduled work day was set for Sat 2/6 from 10am – 1pm •Trash – discussion was opened about getting the trash picked up/dumped from the arena. We’ll talk to the county and see if they can arrange something. •If you are at the arena on non-show days, please put your trash in the barrels or take it home with you. •If there is trash on the ground, please pick it up •It was mentioned that in the past the lights are only to be turned-on on Thursdays and during shows. Discussion tabled unless the power bill gets out of hand. Then we will take another look at this subject. 2010 Officers President: Monica For a PDF version of the newsletter click here |
